How to export your Wells Fargo transactions
Download the transactions from your Wells Fargo checking, savings and credit cards as a file you can keep, open in a spreadsheet or bring into RichDue.
Checked on against the sources linked under each part. Wells Fargo moves its menus from time to time, so each step names the words to look for.
On wellsfargo.com
- Sign in at wellsfargo.com.
- From the account menu, choose “Download Account Activity”.
- Pick the account and the dates.
- Choose the file format, then select “Download”.
Wells Fargo’s help describes the download in online banking, so use a browser rather than the app.
Which file to choose
Choose Quicken (QFX). The comma-delimited file works too.
QFX and OFX files carry an id for every transaction, so a month you download twice doesn’t double anything.
How far back you can go
The last 90 days by default; for some accounts you can choose dates as far back as 18 months.
What’s in the file
Five columns and no header row: the date, the amount (negative for money out), an asterisk, an empty column, then the description.
What RichDue handles for you
- The CSV has no header row, so other apps ask you to name every column. RichDue recognises Wells Fargo’s five-column layout and reads it as it is.
Bring it into RichDue
Start free, answer six questions, then open Import and drop the file. RichDue shows every row before anything is saved: duplicates, transfers between your accounts and categories are marked, and you confirm.
Screenshots, bank alerts, statements or two taps: RichDue reads them, catches duplicates and asks before saving.
